Frequently asked questions
What is VR Base?
It’s all in the name, baby! VR stands for Virtual Reality, which is precisely where VR Base takes you. A lifelike game experience created by the latest, most modern technology.
We provide everything in the game arena for you, from complete VR headsets to realistic recoil weapons! What happens next in our gigantic, free-roam arenas will blow your mind!
Where are the VR experiences made?
We make them all ourselves, from script to animation! Our experts know the software better than anyone else. In other words, the VR Base experience is entirely home grown!
Where do I find you?
- VR Base Mechelen: Molenweide 2, 2800 Mechelen
- VR Base Leuven: Brusselsesteenweg 406, 3020 Herent (beside STIXN)
- VR Base Kortrijk: Engelse Wandeling 2D, 8500 Kortrijk
How do I get to VR Base?
- There is free parking near the entrance at all our locations.
- By public transport:
- VR Base Mechelen is a fifteen-minute walk from Mechelen train station. From the station you can also catch a number 5 bus, which stops about 150 metres from VR Base
- VR Base Leuven: buses 358, 523, 530 and 658 stop right at the entrance
Is there a minimum age?
The minimum age for our VR experiences is 16. Children 12 and over can play if accompanied by an adult.
Can we get a drink after the experience?
Yes, of course! Every venue has a bar with a large seating area, where drinks and snacks are available.
Do I need any special clothing?
If we are honest, VR gaming is physically intensive! The VR arenas at VR Base are among the biggest in Europe, and you will move around a lot during the game.
Your clothes and shoes should be comfortable. The more freely you can move, the better the experience!
Can I wear my glasses?
No worries, it’s perfectly possible. Small-framed glasses fit easily under the VR headset, and we can increase the headset room to accommodate larger frames. But, in general, we would say that contact lenses are more comfortable to play in.
How big is the gaming area?
By any standards: big. The gaming arenas at VR Base are among the biggest in Europe. Depending on the game and number of players, you will find yourself in a gaming area of between 225 and 1200 m².
How many players can take part in a VR experience?
It all depends on the game you choose. The biggest games can have up to 18 players. We offer games for 2 or more!
Are you considering a teambuilding? Or an event for more than 18 people? No problem! Large groups are easy to split and alternate. The games take about 20 minutes each, and people always welcome the chance for a breather. The bigger the group, the greater the respect for the most kills!
How long do the experiences last? Are there any breaks?
One game takes about 20 minutes. As standard, we give you half an hour’s rest between games. You can certainly use that time to re-live your best moments, check the leader boards or refine your team manoeuvres.
Do I see my team mates during the game?
Absolutely. The virtual characters move just like your real-life team mates, at the actual distance. You hear them perfectly through the built-in headsets.
By the way, we are not responsible for any hearing loss caused by your teamies’ screams 😉
What if I hit a wall?
There are no physical barriers in the arena, and the game area is clearly marked. Everything you see through the VR headset is lifelike, but 100% virtual. The VR headsets give clear signals if it looks like you are about to leave the arena.
Will it make me dizzy?
The experiences and technology are of the highest quality. But some people are more sensitive than others.
If you suddenly feel dizzy or queasy, stay calm. Our game masters will step in and assist you.
I’m not actually playing. Can I watch my family, friends or colleagues?
Yes, you can follow your family, friends or colleagues on the big screen. You can also watch them in action by observing from the sidelines. You will see what they see through the VR headset, and what it looks like to play without a headset. Laughter guaranteed!
